A California mother who claims that her daughter was "socially transitioned" to act as a boy without parental consent while at school has reached a $100,000 settlement with the California school district.
The Spreckels Union School District in Monterey County is accused of "socially transitioning" an 11-year-old student away from her biological gender.
Jessica Konen claims that her daughter, Alicia, who had reportedly been questioning her gender identity, was told by the school district that she needed to find out who she "truly was inside." She was then socially transitioned away from being a girl and was told to use the boy's restroom and was addressed by male pronouns, Fox News reports.
Konen, who had not been notified by the school of her daughter's "transition," sued the Spreckels Union School District after finding out that Alicia had been identifying as male while at school. Her daughter has since re-identified as a girl, according to Konen, who was represented by the Center for American Liberty in the suit.
