Despite exploding violence, budget cuts will likely pull state troopers, local cops out of New Orlean’s French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Deep budget cuts have targeted law enforcement amid a violent crime increase, so Louisiana state troopers usually assigned to the city’s French Quarter are pulling out.  New Orleans Police Department officers may go with them.

Even as New Orleans’ French Quarter battles increasing violent crime, the city is saying they must drastically cut the number of state and local officers who work in the popular tourist section.  Louisiana state troopers have been working steadily in the area for the past six years.
