MTG calls for open debate for Speaker on the House floor

House GOP members are set to have a closed-door discussion on Thursday afternoon, coming after the party nominated Steve Scalise for the House Speaker position. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed disdain for this meeting, stating that this discussion should be held on the House floor, urging her colleagues to "stop dragging it out."

"Let’s do this on the House floor instead of behind closed doors," Greene wrote. "Stop dragging it out."

"If Kevin McCarthy had to go 15 rounds then the next Speaker should be able to do the same or more if they have to."

"Our job titles are Representatives of the American People. Let’s go."
