School shooting in north Detroit leaves at least 4-6 injured, EMS, SWAT on the scene

A shooting has been reported at Oxford High School in Oakland, Detroit. A suspected shooter has been taken into custody and officials have recovered a handgun.

The school is on lockdown and emergency protocols have been activated. EMS and SWAT teams are also onsite, as well as multiple medical helicopters. Parents have been told to avoid the school an instead retrieve their children from a nearby evacuation point.

At least one student was shot in the face and four others were injured, according to police. No fatalities have been reported.

The shooting reportedly occurred around 12:55 p.m. in the section of the school where history classes are taught.
